Mayor of Nashua Visit

Mayor Donnalee Lozeau of Nashua visited the third graders to discuss city government.  Third graders were learning about the branches of government (local, state and federal) in social studies.

Wild About Weather

Third graders spent the month of October learning about weather. They learned about clouds, the water cycle, forecasting and weather instruments. Students worked in groups to create "homemade" weather instruments and then went outside to see how they worked. Thanks to Hurricane Sandy, the rain gauges collected over two inches of rain. WMUR Meteorologist, Kevin Skarupa, visited the third graders and showed them how weather is forecasted and broadcast.

TD Bank Representative Visits Grade 3

Kathleen Warren from the Hudson TD Bank Branch came to speak about banking.  It was a wonderful way to make connections with our reading unit of Dollars and Sense.  Mrs. Warren discussed the importance of saving money and how putting money in the bank is a great way to earn interest.  Each student was given a lollipop at the beginning of the lesson and was told that if they didn't eat it, they would receive two more at the end of the lesson.  It was a fun way to see how interest is earned.

Because of Winn Dixie

All the third graders were invited to "Gloria Dump's" back yard for a Winn Dixie party.  The party was the culminating activity to the book Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo.  The third graders have enjoyed listening to this story about a young girl who moves to a new town and makes new friends and has some great adventures all because of her dog, "Winn Dixie".
